Well the so-called resit has been endured and I await my ‘D’ with some antipathy. The exercise proved somewhat fruitful however, in that it reinforced my belief that the institution that we call the university of Malta is far more concerned with structure than education itself.
Even worse it is my suspicion that the institution is designed with the employer, rather than the student, in mind. Why else would it be so obsessed with the provision of a limited number of “set menus” several years in length? Why else would the element of choice be pitiful throughout such courses?
Seriously. Who is the university to tell the student what knowledge can or cannot be learnt? What purpose does it serve other than to restrain the development of students and attempt to psychologically beat them into a submissive state suitable for employment?
Such is ultimately a betrayal - A betrayal of the future.
