The concept has been born and expressed and laid out in plan, but if the resources are lacked then the concept will likely remain in the realms of thought, speech and paper as many ideas require materials tools and other equipment to take form and become reality. This is where the stage is set for the initiator to appear on the scene.

The initiator is an individual who possesses resources not necessarily inherent to all humans. Especially within any geo-cultural setting where accumulation is considered a measure of one’s success in life, the initiator may be found. Therefore, presuming yet again that none of the individuals personifying the preceding stages also possess the resources to qualify as initiator, it is the initiator who holds the key. The initiator may accept or decline any request to provide the resources necessary to bring the concept to life.

In this regard the articulator and the designer are of significant importance as it falls upon the personification of these stages to convince the initiator that the ideas of the conceptualist are worth investing in. The means of doing so depends greatly upon the nature of the initiator and the motivations harboured. While one initiator might be driven by material interests another may be motivated by emotional or spiritual interests. It is a rare initiator who accepts to contribute resources for no clear personal benefit.

While many initiators are motivated by personal interest this is not necessarily lacking in fairness. The nature of exchange is an action of giving and taking. Fairness is the proportional equity between the given and the taken. In any case, equitable or not, the initiator is the individual who makes the realization of a concept possible.

Likewise the nature of the resources that an initiator may possess also varies. In the current-day World this typically means a form of currency which can be exchanged for other forms of available resources, but when it comes down to it the true resources are the materials and the equipment necessary to set the creative process on its way to completion.
