As the Maltese general elections approach and the electoral campaigns intensify so too does my awareness of the importance of these coming elections become more acute. Indeed up to several months ago I hadn’t been banking on participating in these elections, believing that the natural thing to do would be to launch myself ‘after’ the elections… but I have since recognised that to abstain from entry with the knowledge that my perspective has granted me would be an act of irresponsibility on my part.

The first part of the naked truth may be found here. Throughout history it has been interpreted in a wide variety of sometimes conflicting ways. It has been seen as a mark of sin, of impurity, of uncleanliness and shame. It has been seen as a symbol of purity, of innocence, even of the divine. It has also been seen merely as the most natural of forms while at other times it is considered the purest expression of one’s sensuality and fertility. The list goes on and on and the naked body undoubtedly has elicited and shall elicit more perspectives in the future.

There is a time and a place for everything. This age-old mantra and proverb has been used countless times, especially so in contemporary times. However many of us use it without fully understanding the value of the implied ethic and structure of the phrase, nor are we truly aware of the implications of this one phrase being implemented within any given society.
