They say that there is a beginning and an end to everything. This applies to everything in life and beyond it, possibly including a time scale that one may not fully comprehend such as the seeming eternal existence of the universe or eternity itself. It applies to mountains, that might have been flat several million years before. It also applies to the building that gradually erodes over time or is violently destroyed with detonation charges.
Archive for the “A matter of perspective” CategoryOnce a concept is realized it requires evaluation. While evaluation may not seem to be a core part of the creative process the truth is that some things just come down to trial and error. It is said that hindsight is 20/20 and it is for this reason that the role of the evaluator holds importance. Any individual with a rudimentary understanding of the intended function of an object can serve as a suitable evaluator. This individual tests the finished product to see whether it fulfills this function to a satisfactory degree. Beyond this the evaluator also gauges the potential for improvement and it is here that the importance to the creative process comes into its own. When the thoughts drifting through one’s mind forms a concept, when that concept is expressed and placed upon paper in a more elaborate and calculated fashion, when the resources necessary have been discovered and their apportionment approved, and when the organizational structure is in place to permit the process of realization, it is the task of the artisan to actually make that which began as a concept into a reality. |
