Typing this in 2025, this seems like a distant memory to many, but Team Fortress 2 used to have a massive problem with cheaters.
So great did the uproar become that it came to my attention, and I momentary broke my silence over it.
It was a bit of a rush video in an unfamiliar editor, and game, and the quality shows – but it was my droplet in the mix.
As a result of the movement, Valve took meaningful notice and made changes that not only brought Team Fortress 2 back to a very playable state, but which also brought it back as a game.
And I got to rather enjoy it. To the tune of around 250 hours of play time, as of writing, and one small regret that I have is that I didn’t make a follow up video on that experience.
Team Fortress 2 may still have some community-level elements that could use improving – but otherwise, it’s a great comeback and you love to see it.
Next, up – The Stop Killing Games initiative.
