Back in 2011, in Vancouver, Canada, Pixile Studios was founded by Michael Silverwood and Chris Clogg.
Their first project was ‘Stratosphere Defense’, a reimagined tower defense game playable 1v1 on a single iPad.
With a remote team spanning 16 across North America, Europe and Asia, they have worked on ‘Super Animal Royale’, a game that over the years has been played by some 12 million players worldwide, as of 2025.
The game is available on PC, Mac, XBox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch with full cross-play support.
More information may be found on the company website at https://pixilestudios.com/.
Pixile Studios is presently hard at work on ‘Super Animal World’, a major update and expansion for ‘Super Animal Royale’.
What may feature as part of the Super Animal World Update:
- A More Open Super Animal World – Where players will be able to interact with more NPC characters and also to socialize with each other outside of a combat scenario.
- Open-World-Compatible Events or Modes – Activities like bug hunts, fishing and hamster ball racing have been teased.
- More NPC-Driven Sub-Plots – Whether for opt-in challenge purposes or world lore exposition.
- More Player On-Boarding tools – Giving new players more guidance and tools with which to ready themselves for the rigors of gameplay.
- A User Interface Update – Although it is unclear to what extent this shall be so.
I will update this if anything new comes to my attention.
