Mystery Mode is out of circulation as a limited time mode, as of writing.

There are plans to bring it back, following an unspecified overhaul – and so I shall be describing the mode in terms of what it was.

The truth is that Mystery Mode is very much the Squads sub-mode of Royale with some kind of special rule attached, randomly selected when the pre-match lobby is created.

Let us go over these:

One Hit Kill – As the name suggests, any single source of direct damage taken will kill a SuperAnimal in this mode. Or knock them down if in a party, and then require a second hit to kill outright. Gas damage is taken normally, and wearing armour is quite pointless in this mode.

Super Fast Bullets – As the name implies, weapon projectiles go faster in this mode, making dodging harder. This does not apply to throwables and the BCG is another notable exception.

Super Slow Bullets – You guessed it. Weapon projectiles go slower in this mode, making dodging easier, but beware the projectile spam. This does not apply to throwables and the BCG is another notable exception.

Bananarama – The world has gone bananas. All projectiles are replaced by banana projectiles, and all throwables are bananas. It’s a slippery slope from here.

Wild West – SuperAnimals who don’t have a Wild West-compatible hat gets assigned on in the pre-match lobby. Equipment to be found is limited to hunting rifles, magnums, shotguns and bananas. It is also noted that rarity restrictions on weapons are lifted.

Shotguns and Snipers – The only weapons to be found are of the rifle and shotgun family. That is the mode.

Handguns – The only weapons to be found are magnums, deagles, and pistols, I think. That is the mode.

These mystery modes all otherwise follow the royale format and play very much the same. It does add variety to the mode and some players do look forward to its return.

‘Next’ we’ll be switching focus to a different limited time mode called SAW versus Rebellion.
