SAW versus Rebellion is an excellent introduction to the mechanics of the game for players who haven’t yet gotten to grips with the game’s mechanics.
So, S.A.W. versus Rebellion is a mode played by two teams of 24 players each. The players in the black helmets represent the Super Animal World, or S.A.W., Security Forces, while the players in the brown helmets represent the Super Animal Super Resistance.
Why are they fighting each other? Good question. I guess that when the SuperAnimals overthrew their human masters back during ‘the incident’ they didn’t quite see eye to eye on how things should be run from that point forward.
So yes, S.A.W. forces in the black helmets versus the Rebels in the brown helmets.
Unlike the Royale, which starts with the entirety of Super Animal World being available before the gas starts moving in, in S.A.W. versus Rebellion, or SvR, the entirety of matches happen within a specific section of the island map, with the area already cordoned off with a fixed ellipse of skunk gas.
As a player begins to load into the match the loading screen will indicate what faction the player is on this match, with arrows indicating which way they will be headed in-match.
S..A.W. Security Forces move towards the left and Rebels move towards the right.
Like with the Royale, the match begins up in the air upon a flying eagle.
Jump out, land and advance. Very much the same as the royale but there are a few key differences that set SvR apart from that mode, and make it much more suitable for new players getting familiar with the ropes.
The two really important differences are as follows.
Unlike the Royale where a match is over when a player’s SuperAnimal dies, in SvR that SuperAnimal gets to spawn in again.
Also, unlike the Royale where it’s mostly every SuperAnimal for themselves, half of all SuperAnimals in the match are your ally – and wear the same coloured helmet.
So not only can a new player afford to make more mistakes in this mode, there are other SuperAnimals to pick up any shortfall, letting new players experiment more freely in a lower pressure environment.
Do note that this is a team mode and so do try to do what you can. We all have to do our parts, at the end of the day and SvR gives newer players more opportunities to do just that.
‘Next’ we’ll be looking at a key mechanic in SvR – Reinforcement and Capture Points.
