A SuperAnimal is a genetically engineered lifeform that generally has animalistic features but an overall humanoid appearance.
A player begins the game with at least four SuperAnimal species unlocked: The Super Fox, The Super Bear, The Super Skullcat, and the Super Tiger.

Yes, they all start out with katanas, for some reason. ^_~
All SuperAnimals are equal but some SuperAnimals are more equal than others.
Well, actually no but yes. All SuperAnimals are identical in how they play – but they do not look the same.
Genetically unlocking more SuperAnimals is a small but important part of the gameplay experience. As you play more matches, you collect resources that can be used for the purpose. Species-specific DNA, as well as Super Serum.
When enough DNA is collected, a player can visit the Research Lab tab of the main menu, and here they may browse the various species that could be unlocked. Once a species is unlocked, the player is able to select it for their played character.
An unlocked species also expands to allow players to unlock sub-species of a given SuperAnimal species.
The very vast majority of SuperAnimal sub-species are obtainable through play.
A few sub-species are unlocked behind the limited time seasonal packs, or the Super Edition or Super Supporter packs or even the no-longer-obtainable Early Backers Exclusive pack.
And, of course, SuperAnimals are fairly customizable.

‘Next’, we’ll be going over the game’s main menu and its navigation. Alternatively there is also information on what species can be unlocked at what player level.
