As mentioned previously, regardless of what species or subspecies a SuperAnimal is, it functions exactly the same as every other SuperAnimal. They are all the same, being equally tough, equally fast, and equal in hitbox. They only differ in appearance.

At their best health, all SuperAnimals have 100 health. This is the life force of a SuperAnimal and if it should ever drop to zero health then it will fall. When a SuperAnimal dies this is coupled with a death visual effect and a death memento or gravestone. Loot carried is dropped in the process.

Death is a grave matter and so one will want to avoid it whenever possible.
One thing that can help with not dying is armour. Armour comes in several varieties and can block up to three projectiles depending on its variety and whether the projectile pierces or ignores armour.

When armour is broken, even normal projectiles get through normally. For this reason, and thanks to any super tape being carried, a SuperAnimal can choose to repair damaged or broken armour. Doing so involves pressing the âTâ key, and the SuperAnimal takes a moment to repair. If this action is interrupted then the armour is not repaired, but so too is the tape not used up.
It will almost definitely be the case that a SuperAnimal will get hurt and will be in need of healing. Fortunately every SuperAnimal carries a cup on them at all times and can drink refreshing health juice on a whim. Doing so involves pressing the âCâ key, and the SuperAnimal pulls out a cup and begins to drink. Healing juice is drunk up until one fills up, one runs out of juice, or one meets an untimely end or slip.

There are other ways to heal, namely campfires, healing darts, and yummy consumables. These will be covered later.
In Duos or Squads Royale mode, players also have a chance to revive team mates from the downed state. This is a mechanic that only exists in team-based royale modes.
Before exploring the island at large, let’s ‘next’ take a look at how much information the environment can provide about one’s surroundings – and not only that which exists in plain sight.
