Scatter-shot Class Weapons:

That which defines a scatter-shot:

  • Each shot sends multiple projectile pellets in an outward scatter.
  • It makes use of shotgun ammunition.
  • While it is single action, it is very much lethal up-close.
  • Pellets shred armour, leaving SuperAnimals exposed.
  • They are shorter range and damage drops off rather sharply.

Shotguns are relatively common rarity weapons that fire off pellets in an arc when fired. As one might expect, they are relatively shorter range weapons that lose a fair bit of their punch over distance.

A well aimed shotgun shell can one-shot an unarmoured superanimal at close range, and a single shot will often strip all the armour from a super animal. However even a single tick of armour will block the rest of the damage that a super animal would have taken had one been unarmoured.

With five shotgun shells in the barrel, this is a very lethal weapon up-close, not to be trifled with.

It can be a little heavy and slow down movement – which is a problem that the higher rarity variant, the JAG Seven, doesn’t have, being lighter and therefore faster to run around with, with a modestly narrower and longer range of fire. It is no less lethal.

Up until now I have been speaking of non-automatic weapons. In all cases the press or release of the fire button resulted in a single projectile being fired. Let’s talk about light automatic weapons.
