Rifle-class weapons

That which defines a rifle:

  • Increased projectile range and viewing distance while crouched.
  • It makes use of sniper round ammunition.
  • While it is single action, it packs a near-lethal amount of damage per shot.
  • Bullets are very good at stripping away armour, in a single shot stripping away all ticks on all existing armours.
  • It is accurate and maintains damage at long range.

The single-firing hunting rifle is found in the lower rarities, and is an interesting beast in that some players will consider it more difficult to pick up while more experienced players will tend to wreck with it. Having a single sniper round in the chamber doesn’t help its case, optimally requiring manual reload following each shot, but the sheer amount of power, speed and accuracy of those shots, coupled with the ability to zero any armour in the game means that it really has to be taken seriously.

What is more, when a super animal crouches with a hunting rifle, the player’s camera view zooms out a little and the effective range of the weapon increases. It will definitely need practice to get used to it though.

At higher rarity levels one finds the more heavy and hefty sniper rifle. This is more accessible as a weapon overall, thanks to having five sniper rounds in the chamber. It is a weapon that will slow you down, but swapping out for a different, lighter weapon, such as one’s melee weapon, instantly counteracts this potential drawback. Which is also true for any other weapon that slows one down. Naturally, this weapon also has a scope feature that may be accessed while crouching.
